Vivace PIC

Fostering outdoor public spaces in Montreal’s neighbourhoods!

The Vivace PIC program was a three-year experiment and collaboration between PIC and La Pépinière, funded by the McConnell Foundation, which enabled 10 outdoor citizen space projects to be developed in nine PIC neighborhoods.

In summer 2020, Ahuntsic, Lachine (Duff Court and Saint-Pierre sectors), Parc-Extension, Peter-McGill, Pointe-aux-Trembles–Montréal-Est, Rosemont, Saint-Léonard, Saint-Michel and Verdun started receiving support from La Pépinière to develop public spaces and public activities as part of the CIP.

The common goal for the development of these outdoor citizen spaces is to create momentum for collective impact initiatives in these neighbourhoods.

By adding some colour and furniture to public space, we can create friendly and beautiful environments!

Project goals

After the end of the project, community and institutional stakeholders met on September 14, 2022 to discuss the lessons they had learned over the past three years along with ways to overcome the multiple community/institutional challenges of collaborating to develop public spaces.
